Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Manuscript Workflow for Authors

To ensure a transparent, fair, and efficient editorial process, every manuscript submitted to Acta Graphica follows the workflow outlined below. The indicated timeframes are approximate and may vary depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, and the extent of revisions required.

  1. Manuscript Submission

The author submits the manuscript through the journal submission system together with all required files and declarations.

  1. Initial Editorial Screening (approximately 1 week)

The Editorial Office performs an initial assessment to verify that the manuscript:

  • falls within the scope of Acta Graphica,
  • complies with the Author Guidelines,
  • satisfies the journal's ethical and technical requirements.

If necessary, the manuscript may be returned to the author for technical corrections before peer review.

  1. Similarity Check

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality and compliance with publication ethics. This step is completed during the initial editorial screening.

  1. Double-Blind Peer Review (approximately 3 --6 weeks)

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent for double-blind peer review. At least two independent reviewers evaluate the scientific quality, originality, methodology, and relevance of the manuscript.

  1. First Editorial Decision (typically within 6–7 weeks from submission)

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor issues one of the following decisions:

  • Accept;
  • Minor Revision;
  • Major Revision;
  • Reject.
  1. Revision by the Authors

If revisions are requested, authors should submit:

  • Minor Revision: within 1 weeks;
  • Major Revision: within 2 weeks.

A revised manuscript should be accompanied by a detailed response explaining how each reviewer comment has been addressed.

  1. Final Evaluation (approximately 5 days)

The revised manuscript is evaluated by the Editor and, when necessary, returned to the reviewers for further assessment before the final decision is made.

  1. Acceptance and Production

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, language editing (if applicable), typesetting, and proofreading. The corresponding author receives page proofs for final approval before publication.

  1. Publication

The final article is published online, assigned a DOI, and included in the next available issue of Acta Graphica.

Expected Processing Time

The Editorial Board aims to provide the first editorial decision within 6–7 weeks of submission. Following the submission of a revised manuscript, the final editorial decision is typically communicated within 5 working days, provided that no additional round of peer review is required. Accepted manuscripts are published in the next available issue of Acta Graphica. The overall time from submission to publication depends on the number of revision rounds and the journal's publication schedule.
